Unformat Citation(s)

You can unformat citations in a Word document to convert formatted citations into temporary citations.

To unformat citations:

  1. Click the Unformat Citation(s) button in the EndNote Web toolbar. Or from the Tools menu, select EndNote Web then Unformat Citation(s). Word 2007: On the EndNote tab, in the Bibliography group, click Convert Citations and Bibliography and select Convert to Unformatted Citations.
  2. To reformat the temporary citation(s) at a later time, click Format Bibliography.

Unformat Citation(s) is useful when:

  • formatted citations need repair
  • working with a document with other Thomson Reuters research software applications with 'Cite While You Write' that is not directly compatible with EndNote Web, such as EndNote 9 and earlier, or Reference Manager.
