Cite While You Write Preferences

Preferences allow you to enable or disable Instant Formatting, modify the setting to show Microsoft® Word field codes, customize the shortcut keys, and select a default target application when using Cite While You Write.

To customize shortcut keys:

  1. In Word, select the EndNote tab.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Select the Keyboard tab in the Preferences dialog.
  4. To remove a shortcut key assignment, click the Remove button.
  5. To assign a key, enter the key or key combination and then click Assign.
  6. To restore the default settings, click Reset All.
  7. Click the OK to save your changes.

To switch between EndNote desktop and EndNote online:

  1. In Word, select the EndNote tab.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Select the Application tab in the Preferences dialog.
  4. Select EndNote (for EndNote desktop) or EndNote online.
  5. If you select EndNote online, confirm the URL field and complete the username and password fields.
