Windows Scripted Program Installations If your network is running Windows NT 4 network or a non-ADS network, use scripting for mass installations of the EndNote Web program. NOTE: The installer requires the MSI 3.0 runtime environment, which may not be installed under Windows 2000 (SP3). When installing under Windows 2000 (SP3), run the EndNoteWeb.EXE file first to ensure the MSI 3.0 runtime environment is installed, and then run the EndNoteWeb.MSI. To install via a command line:
Example: To write a log file, use the “/l” switch described in the table that follows. The following example specifies installing EndNote Web on a computer using the EndNoteWeb.MSI file found on N:\EndNote Web\Program\” and writing a log file to C:\logs\ called endnotewebmsi.log using the verbose setting. Deploying the Windows EndNote Web Installer with Group Policy If your network is running the Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 Server operating system and Active Directory Services (ADS), we recommend a Group Policy installation for the volume version of EndNote Web. Before you begin:
• Make sure the share that EndNote Web is being deployed from is published in Active Directory. • Make sure the computer account has permission to access to the share. NOTE: This software has not been tested with the Windows Distributed Filing System (DFS). Group Policy Installations:
