To install the EndNote online extension for FireFox:
- Make sure you are logged in to EndNote online.
- Click the Download Installers link at the bottom of any page.
- Under Firefox Extension, click the Windows/Macintosh
link. Note: If Firefox prevents the download, click Edit Options... to add http://myendnoteweb.com as a trusted source.
- Click the Install Now button when prompted to confirm
software installation.
- If prompted to confirm the publisher, select Run.
This will launch the installation program.
- If prompted, select whether or not you would like EndNote online to import
direct export files from data provider web sites. Do not select EndNote
online if you wish to continue exporting references directly to EndNote,
Reference Manager, or ProCite.
- Click the Restart Firefox button.
Configuring the EndNote Extension for EndNote Desktop
You should not need to configure the EndNote Extension for Firefox once it has been installed. However, if you want to export references to EndNote desktop instead of EndNote online from Web of Science™ or another provider that supports export to EndNote, you need to make the following change in Firefox:
- From the Tools menu, select Add-ons.
- Select Extensions.
- Next to EndNote Capture, click the Options button.
- In the EndNote Options dialog, clear the checkbox Redirect the following MIME types for direct export files to open with EndNote.
Uninstalling
the EndNote online Extension for Firefox
To uninstall the EndNote online toolbar for Firefox:
- From the Tools menu, select Add-ons.
- Select Extensions.
- Select the EndNote Capture extension.
- Click the Remove button.

Note
If the toolbar is not visible, but it is selected in Firefox's View->Toolbars
list, select EndNote online again to make it appear.
